"Bulldog in Me" - written and performed by the students of P.S. 297
Beginning in pre-kindergarten, students experience music through a hands-on, movement-based approach; they jump right in with dancing and singing and begin learning basic music notation. As they enter 1st grade, students learn to read and recognize more advanced rhythms and incorporate xylophones and percussion instruments. By 3rd grade and up, they are incorporating more advanced instruments such as ukulele, guitar, electric bass, drums and piano.
Music is an extremely important subject for all children to learn and can lead to better brain development, increases in human connection, and even stress relief.
